Family Council – Home & Hospital

You are invited to join us!

Family and Friends (Family Council) Connections

Thursday, September 20th
1:30 pm – 2:30 pm
Menno Home Chapel
Coffee, Tea, Refreshments are provided

On September 20, 2018, Family and Friends will be starting to incorporate support based discussion at each family council meeting. A move to residential care involves many changes in lifestyle as life transitions from independent living to a shared living experience. This adjustment can take time for both residents and their loved ones. For some of you, the transition may be new, for others, you may have been here longer. As family members, you share similar experiences and you are not alone. Many emotions can arise by having a love one in residential care. We want all of our family members to feel supported by staff, as well as other family members. After the meeting, our hope is that you will feel encouraged, supported and strengthened to continue this ongoing journey.

August Events – Highlights for the Month

Some highlights from our August Recreation Calendars around Menno Place!

Street Parking – Primrose Street and Brundige Ave

There has been an increase in Apartment residents, families and visitors expressing challenges to find parking when they visit their loved ones in the Apartments.

In order to provide more visitor parking, we are addressing any cars parked in violation of parking policy along Brundige Ave or Primrose Street.

Street Parking for Visitors and Residents

Street Parking on the west side of Primrose Street and the south side of  Brundige Ave (alongside the Menno Place campus) is only for for visitors and residents of those apartments. Service providers such as housekeepers and Home Health are considered visitors of our residents.

Lawn signs have been placed alongside of the parking areas on these streets where only visitors and residents are permitted to park.

A parking pass MUST be displayed on the dash of your car in order to avoid receiving a ticket or being towed. The City of Abbotsford monitors the street parking, issues tickets and tows vehicles in violation of the parking regulations.

Parking Pass for Visitors

If you are a visitor of a resident in either Terrace East or Primrose Gardens apartments, please connect with Primrose Gardens or Terrace East reception to qualify for a parking pass. This pass must be current and displayed on the dash of your car in order to avoid a parking ticket or towing.

Questions? Call Primrose Gardens Reception –  604.851.4000

Quilted Comfort

At the end of July we received a beautiful donation from the Fraser Valley Institution of Women.

For the past several months the women there have been learning to quilt by making lap blankets for seniors, and they brought their first finished set to the residents at Menno Place!

We love the connections we make in this community, and we are so grateful for the care that is extended to our seniors.
