What’s happening?

Our bulk agreement contract with Shaw has come to an end. When we sought quotes from alternate service providers, Telus provided a very competitive quote. Their quote included putting in wi-fi in ALL of the apartment buildings and suites. This is something that was not possible prior without significant cost to Menno Place for infrastructure.

In addition, Telus will be providing residents with senior-friendly remote controls and Information TV (much like when you turn your TV on in a hotel) that will enable Menno Place to share the day’s activities, meals and important messages with each resident on their home TV. There will also be a tablet provided to each apartment suite so that residents can try out the internet (with lessons) without any cost.

All residents need to make this switch. Effective March 1st , Telus will take over the wiring in the buildings and will be the only provider for cable and internet.

Yes! During the last 2 weeks of February, Telus ambassadors and Menno Place staff will be going to each suite to assist you in the transition. At that time, you will receive lessons on how to use the Telus TV system.

By March 1st, all of the apartment suites at Menno Apartments will switch from Shaw to Telus for cable television and internet.

Questions about Telus Cable TV in Menno Apartments

Yes! The channels will be high-definition and will display on televisions that are high-definition enabled.

The channel numbers will be different, but the same channels that you watch will be available. We will provide you with a new TV Channel directory to help you find your favorite channels.

Cancel any additional services from Shaw or any other internet provider, effective Feb. 28th. If you have specific questions about your contracts, we will help you. We have handed out a page for you to complete that will identify any issues that may need special support in the transition.

You can purchase a 2nd cable box for $168 before March 1st. After that, there will be an additional installation charge.

When the switch is made in your apartment, we will take the cable box and return them to Shaw. If you have two cable boxes, fill out the special support and we will help label your boxes to ensure we have a record that they were returned.

If you are currently customizing your television channels by subscribing to extra channels, such as the German channel, you can do this with Telus as well. The cost will be similar. For example, the German Kino Plus channel on Telus is $7/month.
