Angela Ross-Fehr – Manager of Dining Experience

Angela has worked at Menno Place for 12 years already and astounds everyone with her skills and the care she takes in making the dining experience at Menno Place extraordinary.
We asked her a couple fun questions to get to know her better!

Q: Why do you enjoy working at Menno Place?

A: Oh my, well the residents and staff for sure fill my cup each day. Constant interaction and encouragement flowing both ways is wonderful; the opportunity to be helpful to others and organize the food for different events. Menno Place is a leader in terms of how we do business so there always seems to be something exciting to try or look forward to, no shortage of challenges that promote personal growth. I love people’s personal stories and have many opportunities to hear them. I stand in awe of the collective situations we have all been through on our journey of life. Menno stands for faith and we have prayer groups that we are free to attend and pray for our campus and community. It’s just so much bigger than we could imagine. I feel that God is here and present each moment…the Bible says where two or more are gathered in his name…that means we have 24-hour coverage!

Q: What’s the last book you read?

A: If I have to confess it was a murder mystery by Tami Hoag.
And also a very short book called Secrets of the Vine by Bruce Wilkinson. Life changing!

Q: Do you collect anything?

A: I love bags… bags to put groceries in. And salt and pepper shakers from days gone by.

Q: Who knows you best in the whole world?

A: My husband Larry! I moved across the road from him in 1976 and so we have known each other for 41 years. He says he has always loved me 🙂

Q: What sort of training did you receive that helps you in your role at Menno Place?

A: Many years ago I went to the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and took a course called “Dietary Technology” which teaches you the basics of menu planning, recipe building, budgeting etc. This was a great start but really using your skills fine tunes how you will manage. I was a diet writer and purchaser at the Prince George Regional Hospital for 10 years.
