We have been recruiting an HR manager since the summer. Recruiting the right fit to support our organization is incredibly important. We need the right person with the right experience and skill set, who also cares deeply about the team and culture they are supporting. We need someone special who cares deeply for people, lives our Christian values, and wants to make a difference.
Our recruitment journey has taken some time, but I am so very pleased to announce that we are at the end of our search. Jessy Manhas has been awarded the position and will start in her new role effective January 29th.
Many of you already know Jessy as she has been a member of our People and Culture team since January 2021. She first joined Menno Place as our Hiring and Recruitment Clerk prior to assuming the role of HR Coordinator in December 2022.
Jessy completed a Bookkeeping and Payroll for Small Business certificate in 2020 and graduated from the University of the Fraser Valley with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 2021. Jessy started working as a filing clerk and office assistant at a medical clinic in high school, remaining through her first semester of university. She then went on to work as an Office Manager from 2016 to 2020 while completing her degree. Most recently Jessy completed her CPHR Designation in 2023.
Jessy was born and raised in Abbotsford and is thrilled to continue her career journey at Menno Place, serving the Abbotsford community. When not immersed in the world of HR, Jessy finds joy spending time with her “fur babies,” Ace and Hazel. When they are not outside on walks or at the park, you can find Jessy beating her brother in video games, reading books, and spending time with friends and family.
Jessy sent me the following message to be shared with the team:
“I am honored to step into the role of People and Culture Manager at Menno Place and am excited about the prospect of contributing to the success of our team. I look forward to collaborating with each of you and fostering a positive and productive work environment.”
I want to also acknowledge and thank Kim Powell who will temporarily assume Jessy’s HR Coordinator role while we recruit. Also, much thanks and acknowledgment to Am Purewal who will support our staff scheduling team in a lead capacity until the end of May.
Please join me in extending Jessy congratulations to her new role and thanks to our extended P&C folks for their team efforts.
