Mary’s Story
Mary was diagnosed with ALS almost two years ago. She is unable to walk, speak and has lost the ability to use her right hand and now she has learned to write with her left hand. We were made aware of the ALS Society of BC and within two weeks of joining we were supplied with a motorized wheelchair, hospital bed plus other incidentals. There is no cure and no clear treatment available, however they have more people doing research about ALS than in previous years.
What is ALS?
Amoyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, neurodegenerative disease where nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control muscle movement die. ALS robs a person of their ability to walk, talk, and eventually breathe. It is a terminal disease.
About the Walk
